i found it!!

I found sheepskin!!! but it is ridiculously expensive and i was stuck in brooklyn with no way of asking kurt if he wants to spend that much. it felt like a waste of a day coz i didnt end up getting in contact with him so no further on the sewing front. but... tomorrow is another day.

i bought a cell phone!! its reeeeeeaaaallly crap. but i decided i need one to call my.. 4 friends? and taxi's if i ever get stuck... its surprising how easy it was to not have one... but then again i have no friends either.

last night was kiowa's birthday bash at his place in brooklyn somewhere... i headed out with the street address and once i got to it i realised i had NO idea what the apartment number was.... a guy was sitting on the front step and offered to let me in but then what? i wandered around seeing if i'd got the address wrong... but no. then david (i introduced myself) and i discussed my options: wait on the step for people who look like they may be friends of kiowa; call home and ask them to rifle through my papers to find one that said 'julie' on it that i think i threw out and then find a phone and call her; listen at every door for music/laughter/party happening sounds; knock on every door; go home.

just as we were discussing julie came down with a note she was going to put up for me that told me the apartment number. phewie. all was saved and we had wine and nibbles and chats. eventually everyone got tired and full of cake that mike whipped up (from a box, but still!)

i felt good walking back to the subway as i had company in the form of max and craig. they're both from california. as a matter of fact almost everyone at the party was from the west coast. and so many are newcomers like me!
