this morning some shops opened as early as 4am. why would people want to subject themselves to that just for $10 off their favourite polar fleece top at wal mart?

yesterday was my first thanksgiving. i cooked bread. i kneaded it for 10 mintues each and today my wrists ache. (weak). i also made pecan pie that turned out pretty good. it was fairly easy (now that i've mastered pie crust)

apparently thanksgiving is usually a day meal, but we waited for wes and juans friends todd and damon to get here from dc. we also had to wait for my bread. finally we sat down to eat at 5pm. we had:
leek and potato soup
turkey (the biggest turkey i've ever seen)
candied yams (they're SO sweet and bizarre)
mustard greens
onion beans
macaroni and cheese
stuffing
gravy
cranberry sauce
mashed potato
my bread
wine

and for dessert pumpkin and pecan pies

we all ate so fast as we had been saving ourselves all day. the result was a silent gobbling time, followed by a depressed agony as we realised there was copious amounts left and we were too sick to move.

we watched star wars episode 1 and 2. i cant believe we sat through them all, commenting all the way, and taking a break for dessert. by 1am i realised i'd drank too much coffee and had no book to read to get me to sleep.

i can see how thanksgiving is for families. i really missed mine when i was sitting around the awkardly conversing gay table. i miss girls too. i need to get out of here sometimes to clear my head of all the gay inuendo jokes. at least i have a day off work! i also have to decide how to organise the conflict that is the celebrity wardrober job wants an interview and i have no time to give it. ? ag. i wanted to go shopping today to work on my "needs" part of my list (and maybe a few of the "wants") but apparently its crazy psycho-ness and you'd have to be stupid or poor to go shopping today.
