i'm looking forward to all things thanksgiving-y. i like how everyone keeps referring to this as "the holiday season". its odd for winter to be associated with holidays. its getting so cold here they're sure of snow. for a while there (global warming) it was dubious but yesterday i got so cold i wondered if i would ever be warm again. its actually painful, being that cold. the trains were stuffing up again. gr.

i'm planning on making pumpkin pie. i have to refuse my cousins offer to spend thanksgiving with her as i dont fancy a beer dinner followed by cigarettes.. poor thing. i think i will continue to celebrate this holiday even in australia, just for the sake of a good meal. juan is very excited about turning the lights on the chirstmas tree after thanksgiving meal (everyone else says its too early but luckily he can just not listen) in a special "lighting" ceremony. i cant wait.

also a girl from my work invited me to a pot luck on the saturday afterwards which i thought was very nice of her. she is sweet. we have been talking about the triple murder case that she almost had to serve jury duty for. luckily she was somehow unfit and could return to work. my boss couldnt manage without her. speaking of which i got my first pay check! its all official and grown up. finally i can get a bank account/spend it all on clothes!!

on friday i voted. it was easy and unsatisfying. i feel so uninformed. i even talked to the girl next to me, it was so unofficial. oh well, here's hoping.
